Content creation by Debra Lewis

Born in 1959, Debra is the eldest of Mavis Thorpe Clark's grandchildren. Debra grew up hearing the stories of the outback and knowing the smell of the small study at the back of the family home that was crammed to the ceiling with books, notes, manuscripts and Aboriginal artifacts.

Though my grandmother never learned to use a computer or the internet, I hope that my she would be happy with this website. She was always generous towards those who contacted her - as I hope you will find this website.

Please contact me if you have questions or suggestions.

Debra and Mavis at the School of the Air.

In 1987, Mavis and Debra (right) journeyed together to outback South Australia, visiting Kingoonya, Coober Pedy and Woomera. An unscheduled stop-off at the "School of the Air" in Port Augusta allowed Mavis to speak over the airwaves to the children of the outback and to answer their questions.
